WELCOME TO OUR
HOMEPAGE
The Japanese Technique of Rozashi utilizes a special silk canvas (RO). The canvas itself is comprised of tiny holes. The method of Rozashi is to create designs on the "RO" by running the thread through these holes. It is quite interesting to think of the different ways in which the finished embroidered ro can be used; ie., purses, handbags, picture frames etc. This unique form of embroidery is not very well-known among Japanese people. It is my hope that the tradition of Rozashi flourishes and becomes a lasting example of Japanese art. And it is my wish that the old technique of Rozashi be incorporated into modern works of art. The person who has opened this home page is probably someone familiar with
embroidery, likes to stitch or knows the technique of Rozashi. It is my privilege to introduce the Rozashi technique and, in particular, my mother's work. My mother (Katsuko Kunimitsu) passed away 15 years ago. Originally, I had intended to open a home page 8 years ago, but, due to a lack of computer skill expertise, it was postponed until 2005. I am very grateful to all who helped me complete this project. I am especially grateful to my mother who inspired me in this endeavor. I trust that you who opened this home page will find a new interest in Rozashi. Kunimitsu Rozashi Study Group Fumiko Ozaki |
